The Iranian Journalists Association has announced that the new administration has not taken any action to reopen the association
.
ISNA reports that Badrolsadat Mofidi, secretary general of the association, expressed disappointment that the government has taken no steps to facilitate the reopening of the association: “At his first press conference, Mr. Rohani made promises regarding the opening of the association, and despite our continued correspondence and requests, the ministry has taken no actions in this regard.”
The Journalists Association was shut down by the order of Saeed Mortazavi, who was Tehran Prosecutor at the time, in August of 2009 following the widespread election protests.
