Zoleikha Mousavi has written to Iran’s Supreme Leader to plead the case of her son, jailed blogger Hossein Ronaghi Maleki
.
The Kaleme website reports that in her letter, Mousavi writes that she has been let down by all judiciary officials and is now forced to resort to the power and judgement of the Supreme Leader.
Mousavi’s letter tells Ayatollah Khamenei about the failing health of her imprisoned son, who has been suffering from kidney complications.
Hossein Ronaghi Maleki has been on hunger strike since August 9 to protest the judiciary’s refusal to let him receive adequate medical treatment outside the prison facilities. Zoleikha Mousavi has been on hunger strike along with her son to provide an outside echo of his suffering in prison.
Ronaghi Maleki was arrested after the controversial 2009 presidential election, when many bloggers and journalists were targeted for charges such as “propaganda against the regime” and “endangering national security.” He has been sentenced to 15 years in jail.
