Iranian journalists have called on the three relevant ministries to approve a relaunch of the Association of Iranian Journalists
.
Badrolsadat Mofidi, a member of the association, reported that a letter has been written to the ministries of intelligence, employment and culture to facilitate the reestablishment of the independent organization that supports Iranian journalists.
The Bahar daily quotes Mofidi saying that the letter was forwarded three weeks ago and they are still awaiting a response.
Mofidi said there are no legal obstacles to keep the association from being reestablished, adding that there were no formal orders to dissolve the body. She claimed that the association was merely shut down in 2010 after the ministry of intelligence grew concerned by certain gatherings and protests attended by journalists.
Referencing the reopening of Iran’s House of Cinema, Mofidi expressed every hope that the administration will raise the spirits of the journalism community by facilitating the reopening of its association.
