The death sentence for Iranian web designer Saeed Malekpour has been commuted to life imprisonment, his lawyer reports

Mahmoud Alizadeh Tabatabai told Mehr News Agency that Malekpour`s death sentence was approved by the Supreme Court; however, he reportedly repented for his transgressions and asked for mercy, which was granted by the judiciary.
Saeed Malekpour, an engineering student from Sanati Sharif University and a software designer, was accused of developing pornographic websites. He was arrested in September of 2008 when travelling to Iran from Canada and has been in jail since then.
