Alireza Karami Kheirabadi a political prisoner in Rajai Shahr prison, who was transferred to a hospital in Tehran on March 25, 2013 died yesterday.
According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), he was an employee of Iran National Oil Company and sentenced first to death and then to life imprisonment on charges of hijacking planes. In accordance with the report of the doctors of the prison, he was transferred to a hospital in Tehran because of meningitis. Karami must have been transferred to the hospital one week earlier but the authorities kept him in the prison while he refused to wear official prison clothes. There has been no reason said for the death of this prisoner who spent more than 16 years in the prisons of Iran and Jordan.
