Al Sharqiya News TV, 23 Oct 2012 – Following the execution of 10 individuals in Iran on drug related charges,
UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran Ahmad Shaheed said Tehran has been able to maintain its ranking regarding these rulings.
Iran in the past 8 months had 300 executions, Shaheed said, while the true numbers are higher but the government is refusing to provide information.
There has been no decrease in these numbers, while actually increasing during the past few weeks, Shaheed added.
It is scheduled for this international rapporteur to deliver his report on human rights in Iran on Wednesday to the committee affiliated to the United Nations General Assembly.
