Judiciary Denies Knowledge of 170 Recent Arrests

November 19, 2015—The recently announced arrests of 170 people in Qazvin Province, a number of others in Gilan Province, and five journalists in Tehran, all by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, amounts to the largest crackdown since the violent state suppression of the protests that followed the disputed 2009 presidential election in Iran.

Officers block memorial for executed political prisoners

Iranian intelligence and security officers prevented a gathering of families and activists from taking place at Khavaran Cemetery on August 28

Khavaran is the burial ground of some of the thousands of political prisoners who were executed in the late eighties following an edict by the late leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Khomeini.
