0aahuman.jpgWife of political activist beaten by security forces commanderA commander in the Internal Security Forces harshly beat the wife of a political activist who complained of harassment by the security forces.

According to the reports, the commander of the internal security forces in the city of Babol beat the wife of Mohammed Ismail-Zadeh, a political and civilian activist, who contacted local police to complain of harassment by the security forces. In the incident, he broke her teeth and jaw. The report further states that in recent weeks the security forces have twice shown up at the home of Mohammed Ismail-Zadeh, who also runs a personal blog, and confiscated some of his equipment. His wife went to the police to file a complaint of harassment. In recent days, the security forces once again showed up at the couple's home, and she refused to open the door. When the commander of the security forces learned of Katayoon Bahrami's complaint, he beat her viciously and threw her out of the police station. Her jaw was broken in the beating. She was hospitalized and will need surgery.

Political activist and chief editor of journal summoned for questioning by Intelligence Headquarters

Political activist, member of the National Council Front of Iran and Executive Secretary of the Council for Democracy and Human Rights inIran as well as Editor-in-Chief of the suspended Iranma journal, was summoned for questioning by the Intelligence Ministry Headquarters in Asprayan. No information on his condition is available. Hatami was arrested in the past during election events and released on bail.

Human rights activist summoned to Evin to serve five-and-a-half year sentence

Human rights activist Mohammad Hassan Yousefi Fioryousefi was summoned to Evin to begin serving his five-and-a-half year sentence. He was charged with participation in an assembly to harm national security and membership in associations for human rights as well as assisting security prisoners to leave Iran. Other charges included unlawful collection of funds for families of political and security prisoners. Yousefi was also charged with harming the holy values of Islam in his personal blog.

Kurdish Sunni activist Hashem Hossein Finahi was arrested in his home by Intelligence Ministry agents. Hashem is a religious studies teacher inSanandaj and director of the office of the Sunni mufti inKurdistan.

Activists helping earthquake victims were arrested and charged with spreading Wahhabism

Acting Commander of the Internal Security Forces in Eastern Azerbaijan province Ismail Zada reported the arrest of more than 20 volunteers who came to help the earthquake victims. He accused them of spreading Wahhabism, and claimed that those arrested were spreading rumors in order achieve their nefarious goals.

Popular poet, Mohammad Reza Ali, who criticizes the regime in his poetry, was arrested two months ago. He is charged with propaganda against the regime and inciting public opinion. Although his interrogation has ended and the court ordered his release on bail, the investigator on the case opposes his release.

Journalist and human rights activist sentenced to four months in prison

Davood Khodakarami, a journalist and human rights activist attending Zanjan University, was sentenced to four months probation after having been charged with anti-regime propaganda and favors for the opposition group in the Revolutionary Court in Tabriz headed by Judge Rahim Hambaler.
