HRANA: Despite a deterioration in the health of Mohammad Banazadeh Amirkhizi, prison authorities refuse to transfer him to hospital to receive medical tests for his prostate problem.
Security forces stormed Mohammad Banazadeh Amirkhizi’s business on November 30, 2009 and arrested him, transferring him to Intelligence Ministry’s Ward 209 at Evin Prison.
Mohammad Banazadeh Amirkhizi, 65, underwent severe physical and psychological torture during his close to two years’ stay inside Ward 209. Branch 15 of Tehran Revolutionary Court, under Judge Salavati, sentenced Banazadeh to five years in prison during a trial in which he had no access to his defense lawyer or a chance to defend himself.
Mohammad Banazadeh Amirkhizi is brother of Kobra Banazadeh Amirkhizi, another political prisoner who was transferred to Gharchak Prison in Varamin in July to serve the “exile” portion of her five-year prison sentence. Like Mohammad Banazadeh, his wife and two brothers were also imprisoned for visiting with their children at MEK’s Camp Ashraf, and were released after they served their full prison terms.
