Committee of Human Rights Reporters – In an interview with CHRR moments ago, Reza Khandan, husband of Nasrin Sotoudeh denied reports that his wife has been released from prison on furlough.
Reza Khandan said, “we have no news yet, at this point I deny any news and so far there has been no time off. If prison leave is granted in the next few hours that is a different story but so far nothing has happened. I went to Evin and waited, and have now returned home. But usually even the prison guards in front of the prison have no information.”
He said that if individuals inside the prison have information regarding an administrative process in issuing furlough, then the reports about Nasrin’s release could not be categorized as lies. But the fact remains that for the time being Nasrin Sotoudeh has not been granted furlough.
Nasrin Sotoudeh, human rights activist and lawyer, was arrested on September 4th 2010. She was handed a 6-year prison sentence, 10-year ban from practicing law and 10-year ban from exiting the country.
