Political prisoner Behrouz Alekhani facing imminent executionreports from inside Iran indicate, adding his death sentence has recently been upheld by an appeals court.
Alekhani, arrested on 27 January 2010, was held behind bars for months and all of a sudden faced with the accusation of murdering the regime’s public prosecutor in the city of Khoy, in Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province. He was subsequently sentenced to death.
It has been over 18 months since he has been held in a detention center belonging to the Ministry of Intelligence in Urumieh, the province capital. During approximately all of this period he has been held in solitary confinement and placed under torture. Reports also indicate his ankle was pierced with a drill and his head was placed under electric shocks.
