Student activist forced to end prison furlough

Majid Tavakoli, the Iranian student activist who was given a furlough last week, has been denied a renewal of the leave10___images_majid-tavakoli2_0.jpg

HRANA reports that Tavakoli was given his first furlough on Tuesday October 23 but was not allowed to renew and has to report back to prison on Monday October 28.

Tavakoli is an executive member of the Amir Kabir University Student Association and was arrested in December of 2009.

He is serving an eight-year sentence for “Assembly and collusion against the regime”, “Propaganda against the regime” and “insulting the leader and the president.”

He was given another six months for issuing a message from prison on the occasion of National Student Day.
