Hossein Ronaghi Maleki went on hunger strike because prison authorities refuse to give him sick leave to treat his kidney problem. Today, Thursday August 22, on the 14th day of his hunger strike, he has reportedly experienced kidney bleeding.

Zoleikha Mousavi has announced that she is going on hunger strike because the authorities are ignoring her son’s dire health condition. She says: “Maybe in this manner, someone will hear our voices.”

Ronaghi Maleki was arrested in the sweeping arrest of activists that followed the presidential election of 2009. He has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for his media activities.
