A language professor at the Islamic Azad University of Bojnourd has been sentenced to three years in prison.

According to the Kaleme website, the three-year prison sentence for Hadi Hakim Shafaei was handed down by the second branch of the revolutionary court of the city of Bojnourd. Shafaei was found guilty of “acting against national security” (two years), “propagating against the establishment” (six months), and “insulting the leader” (six months).

In the years following the Islamic Revolution in Iran the country went through such tumult that human rights violations gradually became the foremost concern for international organizations.
